South West Rocks

Celebrate the end of the semester with a trip to the famous Fish Rock at South West Rocks (SWR).

It's residents include grey nurse sharks, turtles, huge easter crayfish, bull and eagle rays, gropers, cod, Lion fish, cuttles and clown fish! They occasionally see bull and tiger sharks and also get visited annually by hammerheads, whales and other pelagics!

This is a great dive for new and experienced divers alike! EVERYONE will dive Nitrox, as per the dive shop rules. This is a deep dive (down to 30m), so an Advanced cert is preffered.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are a new or inexperienced diver, I suggest doing a few night dives to get used to being in dark water, as it can be intimidating.

There are some great food options around within a short driving distance, as well as the Gaol Ruins (which do cost to access) and the lighthouse walk!

There is also a DVD player and pool table in the lodge.

What You Get:

• TRANSPORT!! We will arrange car pooling into 3 cars, the 3 drivers will then be reimbursed for fuel
• 2 nights accommodation in the dive lodge right above the shop - clean dorm style rooms and 2 bathrooms
• 2 days of double boat diving through the famous Fish Rock cave!
• 4 nitrox tanks (supplied by dive shop)
• Awesome gear wash facilities and storage below the lodge

What to bring:

• Your gear (pick up from gear shop to be organised beforehand)
• A dive torch if you have one

• Nausea medication (the trip to the rock can be rough! I'm warning you now!)

Itinerary:

Friday June 22:

• Leave Newcastle Friday lunch/afternoon
• Drive to SWR (roughly 4.5 hours North)
• Check in to dive shop
• Relax and eat some food!

Saturday June 23:

• 8am gear up at shop (literally downstairs)
• 8:15am drive to boat ramp
• DIVE
• DIVE
• 3pm return to shop
• do whatever you want! Go see the lighthouse!
• food…. Beer
• also Beer

Sunday June 24:

• 8am gear up at shop
• 8:15am head to boat
• DIVE
• DIVE
• 3pm return to shop
• pack up
• begin the drive home
• Maybe stop at freddo's pies and get a crocodile pie? Just saying
• sleep
